Mark is a partner of BraunHagey. He has tried nearly 70 cases to verdict before judges and juries in state and federal court. Mark joined BraunHagey after serving for seven years as an investigator and senior trial counsel at the San Francisco Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
While at the SEC, Mark successfully lead the trial team in the first stock option backdating case to go to a jury. Mark also obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in a $400 million fraud case, the largest case brought by the San Francisco Regional Office. At the SEC, Mark litigated a wide range of cases including complex financial fraud, insider trading and Ponzi schemes. He has extensive experience working with state and federal regulators including the U.S. Department of Justice and the United States Attorney's Office.
Mark was in private practice prior to joining the SEC. While in private practice, he prosecuted and defended numerous cases in trial courts around the country. He has represented clients such as E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., ConocoPhillips and Osram Sylvania. Mark has litigated diverse issues, including intellectual property, class actions, legal and accounting malpractice and fraud, shareholder disputes, products liability, and breach of fiduciary duty. Mark began his career as a prosecutor where he tried dozens of cases involving serious or violent felonies.

Mark lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his family. When not at the office, he sails his boat on
the San Francisco Bay. Mark serves as a vice president on the board of Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland
and also serves on the board of Contra Costa Jewish day School in Lafayette where his son and daughter
attend school.
